Insaf Morcha - Behbal Kalan

Insaf Morcha Refused to Give More time to the Punjab Government For Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura Firing Case

After the assembly elections, the newly appointed MLAs in Punjab are demanding to solve incidents of sacrilege in the last few years. Strict action against Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases is still awaited

Earlier this month, the SIT committee failed to submit the charge sheet as asked by the court. The SIT team gave the excuse of having fewer members in the team after the retirement of the AG.

What Insaaf Morcha Announced After Meeting at Behbal Kalan?

Sukhraj Singh, son of Krishan Bhagwan Singh, who was killed in the Behbal Kalan police firing in 2015, criticized the appointment of Vinod Ghai as the state’s Advocate General (AG). He said,” The AG’s removal is the first condition to continue our talks with the state”.

The Morcha members have intensified their agitation against the state government for its alleged failure in completing the probe into the Behbal Kalan police firing incident of 2015. They are demanding a logical conclusion of the sacrilege cases.

The Insaaf Morcha on Sunday gave a call to the Sikhs to unfurl the saffron flag at their houses across the state on August 15, as a symbol of protest. Morcha members made this announcement after they held a meeting at Behbal Kalan today.

However, the local MLA, presently Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, requested the morcha members to give the state government some time for completing the probe.

Police Officers Seeking to Transfer the Case to a Central Agency

The SIT team led by ADGP LK Yadav has now asked former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini to appear in the court for questioning in the Behbal Kalan case. He is one of the accused in the case. Earlier he had denied the lie detector test.

However, the other accused former IG Umranangal agreed to go for the lie detector test and also agreed to support the SIT team in the investigation. The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed a bunch of petitions by Saini and other accused police officers seeking transfer of the case to a central agency.

Families Awaited for The Final Verdict of Judiciary

Despite several changes in the SIT team, the intervention of central agencies, the political involvement, and above all the annoyance of the Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha, the case remains unsolved.

The families are still keeping their patience by believing in the judiciary system. It is high time that the wait must be over and the final verdict of the case must come at the earliest to relieve the victims.
